Coil-handling Equipment
Coil-handling equipment describes all the various machinery, tools and equipment used for the transportation, storage and movement of coils of metal in industries that undertake production and processing. These coils are commonly fabricated from steel, aluminium, copper or other ferrous/non-ferrous metals which are employed in the automotive industry, construction industry, and appliances.
Some of the existing styles of coil-handling equipment that enable improved ways of managing the coils include Examples of equipment that are a chook, a chook with rotation, a motorised coil lifter, an electro-hydraulic coil tilter and so on.
With the help of these devices, coils can be shifted from one area of a manufacturing plant to another. In most cases, such machines are fitted with large rollers or conveyors to enable the transport of the coils. The coil handling equipment of some form is used to turn coils from horizontal to vertical or vice versa facilitating coil loading or unloading from other equipment.
They are also employed in uncoiling metal strips and feeding them directly to a production process. Such machines also come with a mandrel that helps in holding the coil firmly, so it does not unwind. Coil straighteners on the other hand are employed to straighten those metal coils that get twisted in the course of production This makes sure that the material is flat and has no imperfections for it to be processed any further.
